Besides singing Marathi and Hindi numbers, she also crooned a few Goan songs for the audience. Dilip Shinde, Director, Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, felicitated Hema‘

‘I think she has the best voice amongst today’s singers. She has proved again…..that she is the reigning queen of the Music Industry‘
-Artscape Magazine, Dec-Jan, 2010-2011.
‘Hema Sardesai the Diva, sang her way into the heart of India with her superhit song ‘Awaara Bhavaren’. It was as if with a single song, music director AR Rehman, had heralded the beginning of spring in the subcontinent, such was the magic and zing in her voice. Fast forward and years later her foot tapping and sparkling ‘Badal Pe Paon Hai’ from Chakde India, became an anthem not only for a struggling sport but also for the modern Indian woman and her ever increasing aspirations.
‘Awara Bhavaren’ with it’s youthful exuberance, is a one of the rare songs which by dint of it’s popularity and magical quality, came to be associated with the singer herself.
Hema is not only an Artiste but also a social activist. From fighting drugs, to promoting Konkani language and Goan music, to saving the Girl child, to protesting SEZs, Sardesai has done it all.
Sardesai’s voice is very distinct and different from the playback singers of the day.’
